“I want my work to be transcendental, I want it to be something that keeps inspiring the following generations. If my work is here, it will inspire other young artists.”

Bio

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Gustavo Torres is an internationally acclaimed sculptor known for blending primitive and abstract styles that evoke spiritual balance and ancient cultural influences. Trained from a young age and inspired by Alberto Giacometti and religious motifs from his Catholic schooling, Torres creates textured bronze sculptures using traditional lost-wax casting. His works, reflecting Mayan and Spanish cultural forms with earthy patinas and intimate gestures, emphasize spirituality as essential to art. His notable piece, "Momento Rojo," was acquired by the Latin American Museum of Art in California.
