Art + Design + Build EVENT

This past fall, Galerie d’Orsay hosted a lively roundtable event led by interior designer Melinda L. Headrick and Senior Fine Art Consultant Devon Engle.During a visit to the gallery, Melinda was inspired by a a luminous José Basso painting. This visit sparked a discussion about a more holistic approach to design, culminating in the Art+ Design + Build event.

Bringing together experts in architecture, construction, lighting, and fine art, the evening centered on a compelling and timely idea: that art should not be an afterthought, but rather an integral part of the design and construction process from the very beginning.

The conversation unfolded before a full and enthusiastic audience. At the heart of the discussion was a shared mission: to emphasize the importance of assembling a team of professionals who prioritize the integration of fine art from the outset of every project. When art is considered early, it informs decisions around scale, proportion, lighting, and spatial flow, ultimately resulting in environments that feel cohesive, intentional, and deeply personal.

Alongside the builders and designers, Senior Fine Art Consultant Devon Engle explored how collectors can begin building a meaningful collection, as well as the value of collaboration between galleries and design teams. From framing and glass selection to the potential for site-specific commissions, art can be thoughtfully tailored to complement and elevate a living space.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our esteemed speakers for their insight and expertise: Melinda L. Headrick (Melinda Headrick Interiors), Devon Engle (Galerie d’Orsay, Laura Burnes (Adams & Beasley), Ross Padluck (Kligerman Architecture & Design), Aaron Stallings and Rhiannon Hayes (TSP Smart Spaces), as well as Lisa Bell PR for their support in bringing this exceptional event to life.

The evening served as a powerful reminder that when art is placed at the center of the conversation, the result is not simply a finished space, but a living, breathing environment that reflects the vision, values, and identity of those who inhabit it.
