McGrory
b. 1959
“I like to paint the beauty of what I see and feel and hopefully convey this to the viewer…I tend to keep my compositions simple and keep the focus on the objects themselves.”
Bio
A Rhode Island School of Design graduate in Illustration, Anne McGrory studied with illustrators Chris Van Allsburg and David MacAulay, shaping her diverse artistic path. McGrory designed detailed jewelry focused on birds and wildlife for private and wholesale clients, often using gold and silver with precious stones. As a sculptor, she produced limited edition wildlife and Western-themed pieces, including miniature reproductions of works by Remington and Russell, and was commissioned for notable projects such as a Degas horse for Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts and a relief sculpture miniature for the Library of Congress. Returning to painting in recent years, she works in pastel, oil, and acrylic—sometimes with gold leaf—and focuses on still lifes and New England landscapes. She lives and works in New Hampshire with her husband and daughter.
