“There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.”

Bio

The most influential artist of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso was not only a revolutionary painter and sculptor but also an extraordinary printmaker whose graphic work spanned over seven decades. Creating around 200 published and potentially as many unpublished prints, Picasso mastered and redefined every print medium he explored—etching, drypoint, lithography, linocut, and more—often pushing technical boundaries to new expressive heights. From early copperplate etchings to the famed Vollard Suite, and later innovations in lithography and linocut, Picasso continuously experimented, often challenging his printers to achieve effects previously thought impossible. His printmaking reflects the same bold creativity and evolving style that defined his painting and sculpture, leaving a lasting legacy across every medium he touched.
