“I’m always searching for a balance between abstraction and representation.”

Bio

One of the most important painters of our time, Alex Katz, is known for his distinctive style that blends realism with a flattened, graphic aesthetic. Born in New York to Russian-Jewish immigrants, Katz studied at Cooper Union and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, where he developed his signature approach to portraiture and landscapes. Though often associated with Pop Art, Katz considers himself a post-abstract realist focused on redefining realism through bold color, sharp contours, and spatial clarity. His work emphasizes style and perception over narrative, exploring how viewers construct reality visually. Katz’s paintings are held in major museum collections worldwide.

Stay tuned for new arrivals, great things are coming!
