Join the Longwood Symphony Orchestra Community
Tuesday March 24, 2009 at the Back Bay Events Center, 6-9 pm
This exciting evening will be filled with exquisite food, talented performers and will feature a dynamic live auction of 9 violins that have been transformed into unique pieces of art by world-renowned artists. Proceeds to benefit Cancer Centers of Boston’s most prominent hospitals including Brigham and Women’s, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, Children’s Hospital Boston, Tufts-New England Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.The Longwood Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director and Conductor Jonathan McPhee, is an 85-member full symphonic orchestra comprised primarily of medical professionals drawn from most of these major medical centers of greater Boston. These individuals are leaders in their professions, in their musical abilities, and in their efforts to unite communities through healing, art, and philanthropy.
The Visual Violins and the Artists
Galerie d’Orsay is honored to continue our on-going partnership with the Longwood Symphony Orchestra in support of Visual Violins II, bringing together healing hands and the artistic community. Delighted by the success of Visual Violins I, we are pleased to once again feature several of our gallery artists in this unique event, while also hosting an exclusive preview of these original, one-of-a-kind violins. Opportunity to Pre-bid
During the preview exhibition, which debuts at Galerie d’Orsay on Saturday, March 7th and continues through March 23rd, art enthusiasts and supporters will have the opportunity to personally view each violin and submit pre-auction bids for each of the 9 unique violins. Please contact Galerie d'Orsay at 617.266.8001 who will accept your pre-bid, as well as your maximum bid, and represent you during the live auction on March 24, 2009.
