McGrory, Anne

Anne McGrory attended the Rhode Island School of Design. Since graduating with a BFA, majoring in Illustration, Anne has had a diverse career as a jewelry designer, model maker, sculptor and painter. As a jewelry designer she designed and modeled detailed representational pieces, with a focus on birds and wildlife. Her jewelry was produced for private commissions and the wholesale jewelry industry, in either gold or silver, often incrusted with precious stones. As a sculptor, Anne created limited edition wildlife and western themed pieces, in both small scale and miniature sizes. Her miniature reproductions included the bronze works of Remington, Russell and Fraser. While working as a sculptor, Anne was commissioned to reproduce a Degas bronze horse for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Massachusetts, a holiday ornament depicting the Vice President’s residence at the Naval Observatory for then Vice President Dan Quayle and was also selected to reproduce in miniature “The two faces of literature”, a relief sculpture which adorns the north entrance for the library of congress in Washington DC. In recent years Anne has returned to her first love, painting. Anne works in pastel, oil and acrylics, often incorporating gold leaf into her paintings. Today her focus is on still life and the New England landscapes of her childhood. She maintains her residence and art studio in New Hampshire with her husband Bernie and daughter Sarah.
